Accommodation

Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links

This luxurious hotel overlooking the Irish Sea is only 9km from Dublin city centre and combines modern elegance with the grandeur of a 19th century home once owned by members of the Jameson Whiskey dynasty. The hotel's clever design ensures all guest rooms have a view of the seaside, garden or golf course.

Golf

Portmarnock Golf Club (Old Course)

Universally acknowledged as one of the world's truly great links courses, Portmarnock has hosted 12 Irish Opens.  Located on a small peninsula, which extends into the Irish Sea, the course is surrounded by water on three sides with no two successive holes playing in the same direction.  Arnold Palmer rated the 15th as the finest par 3 in the world.

Portmarnock Links Course

Parts of the original 1858 layout have been incorporated in the re-design which opened in 1995.  A typical links layout through dunes, hillocks, wild grasses and gorse with elevated tees and blind approaches, this championship links is only a wedge shot from the hotel and clubhouse.

Sights / Activities

Dublin Castle

Built in the 13th century and situated in the very heart of historic Dublin, this complex represents some of the oldest surviving architecture in the city.  Highlights include the 13th-century record tower, and the State Apartments, now used for the inauguration of Ireland's presidents.

Guinness Brewery

A must for lovers of the ‘black stuff’.  The Guinness Brewery, or the Storehouse as it is known, was originally built in 1904 to house the fermentation process.  Modelled on a giant pint glass, stretching up from reception on the ground floor to The Gravity Bar in the sky. this giant pint would hold approximately 14.3 million pints of Guinness if filled.
