Accommodation

Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village

A recent $10 Million renovation (2008) has created an elegant Colonial Asian feel throughout the new Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village, in St. Augustine, Florida. From the inspiring new atrium lobby and restaurant, to the pristine new guest rooms. Freshly renovated accommodations feature 37 inch flat-panel televisions, sparkling new bathrooms and furnishings, high-speed wireless internet access, spacious work areas, wet bars and refrigerators among many other modern luxuries. World Golf Village is a great spot to enjoy not only the two spectacular golf courses, but the special atmosphere of the golf village with its Hall of Fame, its great PGA Tour Store, several dining options, the beaches or the sights of St. Augustine all within minutes from the resort.

The Tournament Players' Championship

Since its start in 1974, with Jack Nicklaus’ victory over J.C. Snead, THE PLAYERS Championship, also known as the “Fifth Major” has been one of the PGA TOUR’s most coveted titles. In 1982 it was moved to its permanent home at The TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach and it never looked back. Created to challenge the best players in the world, TPC Sawgrass provides both for players and spectators an unforgettable experience. The course’s signature hole is the famous 17th Island Hole, which is one of the most photographed hole in golf. This hole offers only two choices to its challengers, wet or dry. The event has set the stage for PGA TOUR drama.

Golf

The King & The Bear Golf Course

For the first time in history, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus have paired to create a golf course, King & Bear at World Golf Village. Working together, these two golfing legends have collaborated on a truly remarkable golf course of unparalleled beauty, challenge and design. The course features characteristics of both designers, with open meadows and sweeping doglegs on the front nine to pure shot-making holes on the back nine, which are tree-lined with majestic, live oaks and tall pines and forced carries on 12 holes.

Slammer & Squire Golf Course

Player consultants Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen, along with course designer Bobby Weed, created a course for all to enjoy, which twists and turns through wetlands and pines.  Slammer & Squire is not a long course, but the challenge lies in the approach shot and with the putter. Truly a course built around nature’s beauty to preserve the tranquil surroundings of World Golf Village. Great overall experience with Top Quality Service!

St. John´s Golf & Country Club

With five sets of tees, this course plays a monster 7236 yards from the gold tees and 6801 from the blues and can prove to be a test for the long-ball hitters. Great practice facilities which includes a 10,000 square foot putting green, a double-sided driving range and practice bunkers. Host Course to the PGA TOUR Qualifying School in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009.

South Hampton Golf Club

This semi-private Mark McCumber designed course has sixteen large lakes and over 60 contoured bunkers, in combination with meticulous landscaping, provide players with a superbly conditioned facility. The distinctive layout will test shot-making abilities and require the use of every club in the bag.
