David Graham enters Hall of Fame
Two-time major winner David Graham will be inducted in to the World Golf Hall of Fame next year, a selection committee confirmed on Thursday morning.
Graham became the first Australian to win the US Open in 1981 at Merion, which followed his victory at the 1979 PGA Championship at Oakland Hills Country Club.
Other inductees in 2015 are Britain's record-breaking golfer Laura Davies and two-times major winner Mark O'Meara, while architect AW Tillinghast enters through the 'Lifetime Achievement' category.
Davies is considered one Europe’s greatest female golfers having won a record 45-times on the Ladies European Tour and claimed four LPGA majors. Davies reresented Europe a record 12 times in the Solheim Cup, playing in every competition from 1990-2011and is also the first non-American to top the LPGA 'Money List'.
"It is a wonderful honour," Davies said. "I am especially looking forward to the Induction Ceremony at St Andrews (Scotland) in 2015. It really will be a special event."
O'Meara was at the top of his game 1998 when he won the US Masters and the British Open making him, at 41, the oldest player to win two majors in a year.
AW Tillinghast died in 1942 and was a prolific architect who designed over 100 courses in the United States, including US Open venues Baltusrol, Winged Foot and Bethpage Black. Tillinghast also wrote a number of books on the game.
The selection commission was co-chaired by Hall of Fame members Nancy Lopez, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, and Annika Sorenstam.
