Bairro Alto (Lisbon)

Santuário do Cristo Rei

Built in 1959 on the south bank of River Tagus, the 110 meter high statue of Christ, similar to the one overlooking Rio de Janeiro, offers a magnificent panoramic view over Lisbon and River Tagus.

Pastéis de Belém factory shop

If you have a sweet tooth then you must try a Pastéis de Nata. A kind of round custard tart in a flaky pastry case sprinkled with cinnamon and icing sugar. Although avaialable throughout Portugal they are best served warm in Belém at the factory of "Pastéis de Belém".
