It was the only course outside of America to be named among the top 10 new courses in the world by United States-based Travel and leisure golf magazine for 2007. Nicklaus proudly states that there is no one signature hole on his courses. He prefers to have 18 holes of outstanding quality, and that is something he has managed here.
Rated by US Golf Digest magazine in the top 100 courses in the world outside of the USA, the course is set in the heart of the scenic Wairakei Tourist Park. Designed by Wolveridge and Thomson the beautiful landscaping and magnificent tree lined fairways make it a golf experience not to be missed. This is a magnificent golf course in a very special place.

Known as the Art Deco Capital of the world, Napier grew out of a massive earthquake (7.9 on the Richter scale) on the morning of 3rd February 1931. Destroyed by fire , the commercial heart of Napier was rebuilt in the Aer Deco style, the style of that era, and as a result became the newest city in the world. With a variety of buildings in the styles of the 1930s - Stripped Classical, Spanish Mission, and above all Art Deco, Napier is truly unique. The city is enhanced by palms and the beautiful Norfolk Island pines and is surrounded by the world renowned Hawke's Bay wine region.
