Nestled on sprawling grounds of the Pinehurst Golf Resort, the Carolina Hotel is a majestic century-old hotel which has been placed on the National Register of Historical Places. A stay at this elegant, spacious hotel with its sweeping verandahs and tree-lined walkways will make you feel as though have stepped back in time.
With its 230 Four-Diamond guest rooms including suites, this Victorian-era hotel provides guests with beautiful, neutrally furnished rooms and first-class service. Sunlight streams through both the bedroom and bathroom windows.
As well as having 8 golf courses on your doorstep, a stay at this period hotel also offers swimming pools, equestrian activities, jogging trails, boat rentals, croquet, tennis, walking tours and even a teen adventure program. It’s hard to find a reason to leave this luxury resort.
If it’s a post-course cocktail you are after then the Carolina Hotel has it covered. Hunker down in the Ryder Cup Lounge for one of their golf-themed beverages, such as the Arnold Palmer while soaking up the impressive golf memorabilia that decorates the lounge.
Back to content listSteeped in golfing history, Pinehurst is widely considered to be one of the world's top golf resorts, as well as the spiritual home of golf in the USA.
With nine spectacular golf courses on the Pinehurst Resort, the hardest part of booking this package, is picking which three courses you would like to play.
Whatever your selection, Golf Explorer would recommend including Pinehurst No 2. As the 2014 venue for the US Open and US Women’s Open, it is undoubtedly Pinehurst’s most famous course. Jack Nicklaus described No 2 as his favourite course from a design standpoint because it is “a totally tree-lined golf course without a tree coming into play”. Pinehurst No 2 is ranked 14th in the USA and 23rd in the world.
As for the other 8 courses, they will also most certainly not disappoint. Numbers 7, 8 and 9 are all ranked in North Carolina’s top 50 golf courses. No. 4 is regarded as one of the toughest courses in the US with an average of 10 bunkers per hole, meaning only pinpoint accuracy will do. If you fancy a challenge, then include No 4. In your selection.
